A few weeks ago I was up in Medford, Oregon, and I managed to get a couple of sketches in. This tall building, at Central Point, is a grain elevator, of which you see many dotted across the landscape in this part of the world. I am not an agricultural person and I don’t know why grain needs an elevator (perhaps it can’t use the stairs, like Daleks) but these buildings are incredibly cool. The weather alas was not, and it was hard to find somewhere shady to sit. Eventually I came across a nice tree. This wasn’t the angle I wanted to draw but the first thing is to find somewhere comfortable to sit or stand while sketching, and I didn’t want to fry. It looks like the sort of place a super-villain would use as a secret hideaway. The Grain Goblin, perhaps.
