Drawing Patios of Cordoba

Dans mon
city, Cordoba, May is a very important month, because there´re many traditional
festivals. One of them is “La Fiesta de los Patios”, “Festival of Patios”.  Its origin is dated from the beginning of the
20th century. It is a contest where people decorate courtyards in their houses
with plants and flowers, and during the week they open them to the public.

Vous pouvez
find patios in different districts of the Old Town, so it´s a very good way to get
to know that part of the city. It is even more interesting thanks to a possible
visit to these “secret gardens”.

I usually
drawing in a very quiet atmosphere, but in the patios it is a very difficult task,
they’re full of people and this year I went there with some friends. So I had
to change my habits, draw fast, a basic sketch, general shapes, less details,
and above all draw only the essential part to explain the general idea of the
patio, atmosphere, people…

It was a
very enjoyable challenge.
