I have been wanting to go to the National Library, which in fact is not far from where I live, and just made it not long ago. The National Library in Bangkok is a compound of serveral 3 and 4 storeys building. Two more buildings are being built now behind the existing main building. Many great cities would go for a modern steel and glass for such prominent national building but no, not Bangkok. The new additions would blend in well with the original design, which was considered MODERN some forty years back.
Half way though my reading session, I went down to a cafe attached to the library for lunch. As the cafe did not gether for food, I was recommended to look for a road side restaurant just around the corner near by the library.
And I was not disappointed at all.
It is highly recommended indeed for its very tastety variety of cook-to-order dishes at a very economical price. The only draw back on me was I fell asleep on the library reading table after such a heavy lunch.
