This was the view from our 3rd floor hotel room, at the Hawthorn in Henderson, NV–the sun came up over those mountains and into our room. It was a lovely way to wake! The last morning we were there, I did this quick gesture sketch and added color, mostly wet-in-wet, with my little muted primaries travel kit I made from an Altoids tin. here:

The tiny set is lightweight, it DOES travel well, and it’s really versatile. I used it on this one, too, my husband at the laptop in the morning (that’s his favorite “Old Guys Rule, high mileage, low maintenance” t-shirt!):
