Old and New

In the heart of downtown San Antonio is one of its oldest buildings, the San Fernando Cathedral, begun in 1731. It’s the oldest Catholic cathedral sanctuary in the United States and it’s still a functioning church, the oldest parish church in Texas. I sat in front of the less-than-half-as-old Bexar County Courthouse and drew the facade.

Earlier in the week I drew the tops of some of San Antonio’s tallest buildings, which are also among its more recent– The Marriott Rivercenter, the Grand Hyatt, and the Tower of Americas.
