noughties or nice

christmas stockings
Happy New Year! It’s funny though – okay, the date changes (as it does every day) but really the only new thing is the calendar. So I should say, Happy New Calendar! And it’s a New Decade, too. Bye-bye to the ‘Noughties’ (funny how we called them that before they came and just as they were leaving, but called them the ‘2000s’ throughout). I wonder what our new year’s resolutions are. 600 dpi, that’s mine (yawn). Anyway, I did manage a sketch over the Christmas, and it was of my mother-in-law’s very Christmassy fireplace at her home in Santa Rosa, where we spent a lot of the Xmas break. I had my mince pie (homemade by me on Xmas Eve; my son even left one for Santa), a nice beer, Father Ted on the dvd player (I’m introducing my American in-laws to proper comedy), and the moleskine out. We each had a stocking above the fireplace there, even the dog. It was a very Merry Christmas. I hope you all had fun, and are looking forward to a productive and positive 2010!
