angels with dirty faces

highgate cemetery
Highgate Cemetery in north London doesn’t have vampires any more, as they used to say in the 70s. They all have book deals and movie options now. This cemetery is a real gem though, a place to come and mooch about muddy overgrown paths strewn with old, vine-covered and often world-famous gravestones. I just had to come back here, for some quiet sketching; not been in for years, though I used to live minutes away. Afterwards, I climbed up to Highgate Village to draw an old favourite pub of mine, the Angel Inn, while sat on a traffic island as the light grew dim. I popped in for a pint when I was done.
