Moscow University

moscow university

By Lelia Sorokina

Moscow, Russia

Ink and watercolour sketch of Moscow University (built in 1953). This is one of the eight “Stalin skyscrapers” in Moscow and represents a city within the city with completely independent infrastructure.

With -10C in Moscow it was too cold to sketch directly outdoors so I used my car facility. You can see a frozen puddle in front of the building — this is a stadium and it was like a mirror with almost perfect reflection. Though it was nice to sketch in a car, it gave a limitied view so I couldn’t get the whole composition into a picture. On a bright side, I’m not frozen to death.
