a few forgotten sketches

Travel, competitions, winter and a torn ligament have kept my sketching to a sad minimum.
I’ve been trying to catch up to my regular sketch-frenzy, but it’s been slow. Here are a few sketches I’ve completely forgotten about that I thought I’d share.

Waiting at Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam.

Passenger on a flight to Istanbul.

Lady on the 25T bus in Istanbul.

I felt pretty lucky that such an interesting looking lady was fast asleep across from me on the bus—
I could really spend some time drawing her without her moving or getting creeped out. Suddenly, the bumpy road jolted her awake, and her eyes locked with mine. I felt like I was caught stealing, and my cheeks began to burn. She grinned and tilted her chin up, shaking her shoulders playfully, and posed with great pride— all the while checking to see if other passengers had noticed that she was the chosen subject of an artist.

Tea at the Istanbul Modern art museum.
