Finger Painting, Urban Sketching

Last week, I got down to sketching and found I had no paintbrush with me. But I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to sketch, so finger painting it was. It turned out to be great fun, I was Ed Emberley for the day 🙂 I found that finger painting forced me to simplify, to not rely on mixing shades and working my washes into each other. It was all dip, dab and drag-finger-along-paper.

I noticed I wasn’t the only one having fun sketching like this. I think it amused a lot of people to see me messing around with my paints like a child 🙂
