Tiong Bahru, Singapore

Tiong Bahru Seng Poh Road

Back to Tiong Bahru Estate again. This was where Mdm Tia, Paul, Miel and myself had a gallery show in 2010 for the first time. Our sketches were based on the estate itself. Our sketches were mainly monochrome and were done on sketchbooks so we literally have to remove the pages to be framed. Some were double page spreads so the framed works had a parting line in between. 😀 Now I was back to the estate again over the weekends when the place would be less crowded so I could sketch and paint without too many stares. I love the place for its art deco style of architecture and how it looks so different from the rest of the country too. Over the last 2 years the estate has seen some growth and changes. It is now a bustling place for foreigners, book and bread lovers, while boutique cafes sprouted everywhere too.
