It’s October in Clovis, and still good swimming weather. But it’s also brilliant sketching weather, almost a bit too hot even. Top to bottom- the Jensen & Pilegard building in Old Town from the southeast. Then, the Jensen & Pilegard building from due east, sketched moments later. Third, a video making the top two sketches, with some appropriate fiddle music for our cowboy town. Then, a sketch of flowers followed by a video making that sketch- sorry if it looks like a still life. In a way, these are all still life sketches, aren’t they? Finally, a still life sketch of my son, or a vague impression of my son, with his recently broken collarbone, now held neatly in place with a metal plate. Now that the weather has begun cooling off into the low 90s, I should be getting out more these days to sketch my urban landscape. Great fun. The most enjoyable part of the top sketches was forgetting my small brush and having to do it all with a big brush. I should’ve tried this years ago.
