#USkSingapore2015: A Supersymposium in the Land of the Supertrees

By Gabi Campanario in Singapore

As Symposium tradition dictates, the event came to an end today with a massive sketchwalk attended by hundreds of sketchers. Thirty six nationalities were represented this year, so it may be safe to say that the final gathering was the most diverse congregation of people sketching simultaneously on the street ever held in the world. Someone call the Guinness Book of World Records, please!

The sketchwalk was followed by a closing reception were exciting news about next year’s Symposium were announced: It will be in Manchester, England!

Earlier in the day I took some time to cross a “must-sketch place in Singapore” off my list: the surreal grove of 50-meter tall “supertrees” at Marina Bay Gardens. An employee of the gardens said it will take another three years for the supertree metal structures to be all covered with greenery. That means another visit to Singapore may be necessary a few years from now to update my sketch.
