Sunday Afternoon in San Antonio

[By Stephanie Bower in San Antonio, TX] Three quick sketches on Sunday afternoon. First, my mom, aunt Marg and I went to the beautiful Unesco World Heritage Site of Mission San José, built in 1768 and one of four Spanish colonial missions in South San Antonio.

Above you can see the last bit of rays on the west face of the beautiful building.

And of course, I can’t miss a church interior and the opportunity to look up and sketch!!I While I worked, a young college student started to play Chopin…it was truly heavenly! Thank you, Mark Gonzales! I hope I can come back some time to sketch all the SA missions…they are really beautiful, it would be a great place for a workshop one day!

Finally, it was dinner at an amazing asian fusion restaurant called Hot Joy…it was just delicious. Sketched and painted this in between various bowls of food filling the table.

Happy Year of the Monkey to all!
