Activity 5: Sketch Mob: Togetherness in Sketching

Instructor: Hakym Ahmad

Urban sketching today is more than just a type of drawing
skill posessed by an artist but rather it has been seen as social activities.
This aspect of urban sketching is very important as it promotes social
connection and knowledge exchange in the society toward appreciation of the
surrounding, thus appreciation towards architecture.

To have a sketching event that involves idea exchange as well
as the public interactions. By gathering sketchers/participants in a public
location, providing sketching tools (papers/boards/pens/pencils) and invite the
public to be part of the sketching activity by showing and celebrating
everyone’s unique style. It is the chance for the sketchers to engage more with
the other sketchers to try different styles and tools as well as getting
feedbacks from the public in the same time, introducing urban sketching to
newbies. The highlight of the activity, after the sketching session, these
sketching will be immediately exhibited as a guerilla exhibition with strings
and clips (laundry style) that could grow throughout the whole symposium. The
activity will be followed by a photo session to promote it online through a set
of hashtags #.
