Activity 4: The Big Crit

Activity Presenter: Fred Lynch

Workshop Description

In this structured session, a number of well-regarded Urban Sketchers workshop instructors will form a circle or line of tables, each with a seat for him/herself and a guest. Each participant with sketchbook and artwork in hand will cycle around the tables, receiving a quick critique of their work from a number of the instructors—not unlike speed dating. The variety of instructors will provide a wealth of useful advice and feedback for the participants. Every ten minutes, participants will move on to the next table with the next teacher.

Learning Goals

Helpful advice (critique) from experienced educators and practitioners of Urban Sketching.

Unlike individual workshops, feedback will focus on overall efforts at drawing, painting, design and conceptual approach.

Workshop Location

This workshop intends to use the symposium’s host institution, The Manchester College of Art.
