One month in Florence with a pocket sketchbook (5)

[by Javier de Blas in Florence, Italy] Nov/14th-17th. In the Parrochia de Santa Felicita, on the Oltrano side, very close to
Ponte Vecchio, I find this old religious Italian lady, explaining
something to an American woman in an exhaustive way. They keep their
positions for a long time and this is great to sketch them.

La chiesa de Ognisanti is very close from the engravue attelier LArmadillo, where Encarna, our flatmate is preparing a workshop and an exhibition. Maybe this is why this is the third time I am here. But also because of the interesting things it has inside. Now I draw this lying Christ who, for some reason, reminds me the image of Che Guevara when killed in Bolivia. Another Christ that takes my atention powerfuly is this peculiar and rough Crucifix.

Chiesa del Carmine is not far from there, on the other side of river Arno. The walls of its cloister have many stone medallions with kind of esoteric simbols. Also a nice Cenacolo from which I draw this funny cat. Once out, next to Piazza del Carmine we enter in a patio, climb some stairs and see the Oltrano hills, behind all the neighborhood roofs.

La chiesa de Santo Spirito has a huge flat monocolor facade, wich is very unusual here and also very refreshing for the same reason. The square where it is, has a very good atmosphere of students and young turists who seat on its stairs to have pizza.
