The Marco Polo Bridge

[By Teo Cheng Huat in Beijing] The Marco Polo Bridge or Lugou Bridge (卢沟桥) is a
stone bridge located 15 km from downtown Beijing in Fengtai District. Although
it is a popular scenic spot in Beijing, it is not always crowded like the other
larger attractions. Not sure why, maybe because there are not too many fun
things to do here. It is a serious place to visit as it remind us of the
Sino-Japanese War. Lots of walking when visiting this place as the ground
surfaces are not easy to walk on especially the elderly. The stone lions are
the most photographed items and it is difficult to remember every lions.
Usually visitors like to play game by counting the number of lions sitting and
hiding around its body but can never get the total of lions right.

You can read more about the original Marco Polo Bridge on this Wikipedia entry.
