USk National Meeting in Brazil 2019 with workshops!

Happy to invite all Urban Sketchers to the annual National Meeting of USK Brazil’19!!

This year’s meeting will be held in the historic city of Ouro Preto (state Minas Gerais) – the cradle of Brazilian baroque, from 20 to 23 of June.

The event gathers 250-350 participants, every day includes 2 locations for sketching and ”Sketch and Drink” at evening time.

Guaranteed intensive practice and exchange of experience.

About the workshops:

Dear Urban Sketchers of Brazil and of other regions!

In response to numerous requests, we decided to include some workshops in the program of the 4th USK Brasil 19 Meeting.

June 17th

10h00 – 13h00

“Drawing of Daily Poetry”

with Raro de Oliveira (workshop at the Grande Hotel Ronaldo Fraga)

14h30-17h30

The activity of urban sketcher is very personal, and the pleasure that we find in the scene to be drawn is fundamental to the graphic result. In the workshop we will train the look to the daily stuff, how to find lyric everywhere, how to make good drawings in any life situation. Also participants will try to make a text a part of composition of one of the page of sketchbook. We will practice how to make the best use of the materials we have at hand – could be simple pens, dried marker, or piece of blunt pencil. Workshop divided in 2 parts:

1. theoretical part: Lecture with examples of works of different authors on the same topic, and demonstration of basic technique of work with different art material (mixed technique). Discussions about the concept of lyric sketching.

2. practical part: Live sketching, using the knowledge of the theoretical part of the class. Setting a common task for group and individual aim of each participant. Mini exposure of the final works and analysis of the results.

This workshop was created for represent some basic concepts of perspective and to show some unusual varieties of perspective. Workshop divided for 2 parts: 

1. theoretical part: Lecture with examples of works of different authors on the same topic. A little about how important perspective is in urban sketching. Present a general notions of perspective, vanishing point, horizon line, etc.

2. practical part: Some perspective training, applying perspective to drawing of simple objects. Live sketching, using the knowledge of the theoretical part of the class. Setting a common task for group and individual aim of each participant. Mini exposure of the final works and analysis of the results.
