SUMMER GLAMPING EVENT AND COVID TEST IN THE MOUNTAIN

[by teo cheng huat in beijing]
Summer camping event at ZhangJiaKou District in ChiCheng County 178km from the city northern mountainous areas of beijing. This venue is actually a snow resort, 1300 metres above sea level and is called SNOWLAND, its has a runway for helicopter and aeroplane and a clubhouse that houses a few restaurants , exhibition halls and lounge areas.  The glamping event site is right in front of the clubhouse of around 1000 campers and 30 plus stores. Is the first time the owner decided to organise theis glamping event so there are many areas to be improve. However because it is a new camping site, lots of campers with small children came as the facilities is new and convenient. Since it is summer in beijing and we could not travel out of beijing we decided to go and have some fun.

This time we rental a caravan that can sleep 6 people and drove 4 and half hours to the venue. On the first day, there were report of new COVID cases in beijing and within few hours ,5 ambulances came to the camp sites to do testing for everyone. So immediately after a quick dinner, we went to queue up for the test. The test was conducted in group of 10 persons and we paid 20RMB each.  The next morning the organiser send  WeChat message to inform that the test result are confirmed negative. However the next day, after breakfast we decided to leave for beijing worrying that authority will soon set up check along all the highways leading into the city to ensure full control for the suspected new cases. It was a smart decision as we were told of the hours of queing up of cars at inspection station entering beijing that evening. Another scary experience of this COVID virus incident.
