ANNOUNCEMENT:
USk Auckland is pleased to announce the following recipients of the Auckland Symposium Scholarship to attend the 11th International Urban Sketching Symposium in Auckland this coming April:
Lepakshi Jaiswal
Joseph Bjelic-Webster
Myint San Aung
Jessica Juno
Zoe Dewhurst
Michelle Park
Diane Johnson
Mark Whippy
Anne Taylor
This will be the eleventh year that Urban Sketchers has been able to offer the Symposium scholarship to local artists. The applicants, selected by the Auckland Symposium team, are students or unwaged, or deserving sketchers who were chosen based on their demonstrated interest in sketching from a supplied portfolio or CV and a letter of motivation.
We particularly liked these words by recipient Joseph Bjelic-Webster, a masters student of architecture;
“Drawing and sketching is a large part of architectural practice and thought process. I love the process of urban sketching and drawing from observation as it allows me to understand and represent spaces and objects. I am in love with the simple pleasure of drawing.”
We couldn’t have said it better, Joseph!
Congratulations to all. We look forward to seeing you in Auckland this April!
