The café Hos Sofies Forældre (At Sophie’s Parents’) in Århus – the place has an unusual decor and looks like the inside of someone’s Granny’s sitting-room, only larger.
I picked a deep velvet arm-chair in a corner by the window, and took my time sketching and enjoying a hot soy-milk chocolate while waiting for the rain to stop outside.
This is one corner of the café, which can be a very lively and noisy place when it’s full. I’ve visited it once before with a friend – I think it was last summer – where the place was full of mothers on maternity leave out meeting friends with their babies in tow. Today it was less crowded, and there were several elderly ladies enjoying a quiet cup of coffee in the comfortable sofas and deep arm-chairs scattered around the place.
Tea is served in gold-edged china with rosebuds and forget-me-nots.
The service was good, friendly and accomodating. I left one of my little MOO mini-cards with a link to Urban Sketchers on the back, so perhaps the owners will stop by this blog and see the sketch from their café.
