Martin und Albert

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
Guido beat me in sketching the newly dedicated MLK Jr. Memorial, but I was very happy to be able to finally get a chance to see and sketch it myself (even if I got yelled at for sitting on the grass). Judging from the crowds of people trekking across the mall, it obviously has an immense amount of meaning for everyone who sees it and will undoubtedly become an essential landmark for all to visit.

Since I was on the Mall I thought I would check out one of my other favorite, albeit less well known memorials off the beaten path by the National Academy of Sciences. With Martin getting so much of the spotlight recently, I thought Albert should get a little love too.
Albert Einstein Memorial
Two very distinct and different memorials, but both communicate a very strong message about their subjects.
