This is a from a 2005 sketchbook when I visited the ancient town of Walata in the East of Mauritania not far from Mali. Sidi asked me to do his portrait and laid down for it in this amazing room thats been finger painted with red clay by the family women. To see more sketches from Walata check aquí.
