El Island of San Giorgio Maggiore is a small island located opposite San Marco Square in Venecia, the artistic and cultural heart of the city.

It is home to the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, designed by Andrea Palladio.

A wide pavement on the long side of the church faces a quay with boats from which you can see in the background the buildings of the historical centre of Venice.

It was relaxing and pleasant to stop there and draw a sketch in watercolor and ink, to retain the fleeting and delicate atmospheres and colours of the Venetian lagoon.
