This is the only sketch I have of St Peters. I was rather excited when I saw the long queue and got my sketchbook out instantly. Unfortunately (for my sketch) the queue was moving way too fast, but at least I have a visual record of how little time it took us to get inside!
But later in the day, when we were totally exhausted and our feet very sore, we sat down outside the Colosseum in the cool of the late afternoon. My friend caught up on postcards while I enjoyed having a decent amount of time to sketch….something I rarely seem to be able to achieve, especially when travelling.
