[バルセロナに住んで10年になりますが、最初の数ヶ月をバルセロネータ地区で過ごした後、観光客の群れから逃れるためにポブレノウに引っ越しました。工場、小さなモダニズムの家、落書き、ポブレノウ通りの家族連れ、労働者が混在するこの古い工業地帯に、私はすぐになじむことができました。
Urban Wilds
I’ve been thinking lately about urban wilds – those untamed parts of cities and what happens when they become domesticated and well-groomed by developers. How do you express that state of disappearance of a place when actually, much of the architecture remains the same? It’s interesting to me to walk certain parts of New York City and time travel – I remember things from 15 years ago and then I take another step and it’s two years ago. Another step and it’s yesterday. All in one place. Sitting in a bagel shop in Brooklyn today, trying to put that feeling into these drawings…
