Image credit: Gerakd Soworka Dear sketchers Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, I must unfortunately announce that Townsville Sketchest is cancelled for this year. This event was scheduled for Friday 5 – Sunday 7 June 2020 and also applies to the Magnetic Island sketch walk on Monday 8 June as well. This is due to the current advice of the Queensland and Australian Governments with respect to the safety of public gatherings. Unfortunately, the requirement to cancel all non-essential, organised gatherings of more than 100 people (indoor events) and 500 people (outdoor events) applies to Townsville Sketchfest as due to your amazing support we had 130 attendees (ticket holders, artists […]
[By Vincent Desplanche Symposium 2017 Correspondent, USkChicago2017, USA][Chicago] Three days are already gone, but many thing will occur on this last day of symposium. I still have 4 workshops to document this morning in only 3 hours. Fortunately they are almost in the same area. First is Lynne Chapman’s. Her approach is to have a lot of fun with colors but always in rythm. With Suhita Shirodkar the aim was to sketch some of the people all around Cloud Gate in order to tell stories. Really exciting. The weather was already hot at eleven thirty when I joined the workshop Simo Capecchi. But sketching kids running and splashing in the water […]
[By Vincent Desplanche Symposium 2017 Correspondent, USkChicago2017, USA][Chicago] Friday is a very busy day for correspondents. We have to document six workshops and 2 lectures. No doubt we won’t be able to go to the Pritzker Pavilion to listen to Mozart in the evening. After meeting on the Congress Plaza once again, the workshops spread into the downtown and parks. Yesterday I couldn’t find Kiah Kiean and his group in the park due to a last minute change of location. I got them this morning at the very interesting indoor slideshow and tools presentation. The day was just beginning and I had many more places to go and moments to document. […]
[By Vincent Desplanche, Symposium Correspondent in Chicago, USA] Thursday morning, all the workshops participants have to meet their tutor on Congress Plaza North. What kind of silent demonstration is that ? Maru Godas is very enthusiastic, people are having fun, gouaching like children. Marc Taro Holmes invites the participants to brake the silhouette with watercolor brush strokes. Marc always moves from a place to another and I’m kidding about this. But the real hide and seek game happens when I can’t find Kiah Kiean’s workshop in the park. Desperate, I come back to Michigan avenue and attend to the last moments of James Richards’ class in front of Art Institute. […]
