old gas station
[by Mario Luz, Christchurch, NZ] An old gas station in Okains Bay caught my attention today on my way to the beach. I sat comfortably on the car, put a CD and I let the summer breeze coming in through the windows, now I was ready to enjoy the moment.
The Ugly Side
[By Marcia Milner-Brage in Santa Barbara, California, USA] Drawing a place sometimes leads to learning its dark secrets. This is not my best drawing, but the story about this place is worth telling. St. Anthony’s Seminary, the white Spanish-style building with tile roof and bell towers is a landmark in this idyllic Central Coast California […]
Plaça Catalunya, Sketchcrawl, Barcelona
[by Swasky in Barcelona, Catalonia] Now it is a few years ago that I go to the Sketchcrawl and my experience has been changing. We started being 3 or 5 people and we have ended up being normally about 60 or 70 people. The most that we have met was about 500 people on the […]

Snow Matron The Alien Snowman Snow dog and doggie igloo This winter, we’ve had lots of snow in my northeast Iowa town. It’s been the perfect variety for rolling and compacting into snow sculptures. The color and shape of snow
[By Marcia Milner-Brage in Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA] In winter, I draw my Iowa neighborhood from inside my house. A few days ago, as night approached after an all-day snow, I was struck by how the whiteness glowed against the silhouetted trees. In the past, I’ve tended towards monochrome sketches to show my town in […]

The car wash is on 1st on the same block. McDonald’s drive-thru exit is one block down 2nd. Apple Tree on 2nd Street Every year […]
Christchurch
One view from the Christchurch city center, the city is being re build on such a speed that is getting harder to get a view like this. The presence of a demolished building painted on the facade like a ghost, made me want to draw this view. Its most likely that the rest of the […]
Mont Saint-Michel and Honfleur
Thanks to a very good friend I had the opportunity to visit these two amazing places. Mont Saint-Michel is out of a fairy tale. I can’t imagine there is another place on earth like it. Its abbey reaches so high to the sky as if it is literally reaching for God. I did a few […]

layers of paint
Among the new and shiny buildings in Christchurch there is still some old forgotten constructions standing that I like sketch and apply several layers of paint like someone did on the facade, not that there is much to salvage from this old house, is just a romantic view of a Christchurch that I never knew.
the leftovers
Nowadays in Christchurch, there are new buildings coming out every day and only a few testimonies of the earthquake still standing. The emptiness is the major scar in the city. What I am usually after, is the surreal leftovers and the texture of the brick walls to sketch. This material unfortunately will not be part […]
