Where in the world are we?
Find urban sketchers around the world in our new global map! In just the few weeks since we started the map, hundreds have added their placemark and information to it. You can view the map on our our Map Page and add yourself via Google Maps in bu bağlantı (sign in first with your Google account and then follow the instructions.) Sketcher are finding that the map is a great visual directory to help us connect with each other, especially when we travel!
Barcelona 2013/Call for Submissions
Urban Sketchers is excited to announce a “Call for Submissions of Workshop Proposals” to anyone interested in teaching at the 4th International Urban Sketching Symposium to be held in Barcelona in the Summer of 2013. Bilgi burada. Due Date for Submissions: December 15th, 2012.

Scenes Seen Exhibition 2012

USK Singapore held their first large scale group exhibition, Scenes Seen Exhibition 2012, at the Viridian Art house in Singapore in late October. They were invited by Singapore’s annual Architecture Festival to put up the exhibition where 39 Singapore sketchers showcased nearly 200 sketches. In conjunction with the exhibition USK Singapore also organized 2 sketchwalks to engage the wider public.

USK Correspondent Wins “Prix International”
Barselona USK Correspondent Víctor Martínez Escámez, a.k.a. Swasky, won the Clermont-Ferrand Travel Sketchbooks Festival “Prix International” for his book, Voltant per Sants, published by Zahori de Ideas. Congratulations Swasky!!!

University Level Urban Sketching Course
The University of Texas Arlington has just approved a 3-hour credit course called Urban Sketching to be taught in the School of Architecture. We think it’s the first university-level course based on USK principles.
The course will be open to both graduate and undergraduate students university-wide and it will be taught by USK Board member James Richards, FASLA. Jim is urban designer, sketchbook artist, writer and educator in Fort Worth, Texas and is co-founder of the urban design firm TOWNSCAPE, Inc.

Seattle Sketcher in the Macy’s Parade
Ok, so it wasn’t THE Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in NYC, but it was Seattle’s annual Macy’s Holiday Parade where we spotted USK Founder & Correspondent Gabi Campanario (and daughter Olivia) marching with other Seattle Times employees. For the parade, those newsboy bags were packed with candy to hand out along the route instead of newspapers to deliver. Of course, Gabi even managed to get a sketch done!
