Stockholm is a lot about water and boats in the summertime. As a visitor the big boats along the quays in the center of the city will catch your eye – there are ferries, hotel boats, historic ships and big old boats with people living in them.
But if you keep walking along the edge of one of the islands of Stockholm, you are sure to meet a more human scale of boats. There are little harbors and boat clubs everywhere, often with willows dipping their branches in the water between the floating docks. I love it when the maritime and urban environments meet closely, which they do in so many places in Stockholm.
