Pushing Your Sketching Boundaries in Brighton – getting closer

It’s getting closer and we are getting ready for the workshop in Brighton and the Brighton Festival.
The Fringe programme is out and we are so happy to be part of it. There are over 900 events, including cabaret and circus, comedy, dance, theatre, music.. in short, there will be plenty of people everywhere to draw in every corner.
In preparation, Isabel went to ザ・マーウッド・カフェ to talk to their people and enjoyed their hospitality, the Cafe is a great Brighton venue full of people and where we will be based, in the middle of the Lanes area, not far from the beach and much of the Brighton Festival action. If you like coffee (and cake) you will enjoy our morning meet up place.
And as we get closer to the workshop, Swasky also asked us how we do approach drawing people, and particularly to draw a self portrait. It is a very personal thing to draw oneself and think about approaches to drawing, as sketchers we do it sometimes mechanically but it is good practice to think more about it. It is also good to try tools you may not use all the time. Here, Isabel used Pen and line when she paints more, Swasky did watercolour and Rolf mixed techniques.
We can wait to get started and we look forward to meeting a few of you in Brighton, one of the happiest places to live in the UK.
