I am an artist from Melbourne, Australia who has been urban sketching people for a while.
I wanted to make a big urban-sketch memory book during a recent Japan trip with a friend .
I just sketched objects & people I liked in spaces on the page I thought they fit, but in the same theme (i.e sumo cars and lamposts), which often ended up being a chaotic collection on the page, which I loved.
I start with a pen sketch then use watercolour from a 6-colour pan (ultramarine blue, pink, red, green, yellow & brown), I found this range when mixed gave me all the colours I needed.
For fixing mistakes & adding highlights I use a white chalk pen.
Loved sketching compact Kawaii parked trucks!
Each location was about 4 pages of the sketchbook, so about 38 pages altogether.
I’m currently working on a dog’s of Melbourne urban sketchbook & am heading back to Osaka for some more sketching this year.
Thanks!
