The huge job of scanning the pages of my 4 volumes of sketchbooks from my recent European has begun. I think that it will take my longer than my holiday itself to get it all up as I am posting day by day. (BTW these books are Daler Rwney Cartridge books covered in japanese paper for protection.)

The first thing that I did when I arrived at Heathrow after a 24 hour long haul flight was pick up a hire car(I was on my own for this part of the trip) and drive 2 hours to a tearoom to meet up with an online flickr friend! And not just any tearoom – The Bridge at Bradford on Avon won the award for the Top Tea Place in the UK 2009! (you would expect that kind of thing from me wouldn’t you!) It was all a bit too exciting for me but I did manage to get pen and paint to paper to record the event!

I then drove another 1.5 hours to Cardiff where after lunch my friend took me to my first Welsh castle – Caerphilly. A very impressive ruin with huge moats and a leaning tower to rival Pisa! Managed a quick sketch here too.

The next day we went to another ‘castle’ – Cardiff. I could have spent a day sketching here but as this was my first trip to Wales I was in tourist mode (feel the need to see as much as possible in a short period of time) so another quick sketch.
To see all the sketches I did on the first two days and also how my little bear met Queen Victoria check to my blog or flickr.
