The day after the inauguration of Donald John Trump as the 45th President of the United States of America, a mighty countermovement rose up. There was a massive demonstration in Washington, D.C. that dwarfed the crowd that gathered for the inauguration itself. Above, Julia Sverchuk was there in the nation’s capitol, marching and sketching.

Many wore their newly-knit, pink pussy hats, flipping Donald Trump’s misogynistic rant about “grabbing pussy” into an emblem of power and self-worth.
In peaceful solidarity, women and men marched, creating a river of pink.

Amber Sausen, the newly appointed president of Urban Sketchers, joined the marchers and sketchers in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
And from around the globe, others marched and urban sketchers were there to report it. Reinforcing that we, Urban Sketchers, are a global community, that we who share this planet are part of the same family.
