USk Workshop: How to Draw Expressive Figures

Join Oliver in San Francisco’s colorful Dolores Park, San Francisco, USA to people watch and learn approaches to capture their personality with confidence and detail. You will learn a cut and paste method that allows for more time to draw a figure. We will use this technique to prioritize the parts of the subjects that are essential and tell their story.

The setting could not be better. The flamboyant Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (google it!) are celebrating their 40th anniversary, an event bound to attract a diverse crowd. A sketchers delight.

You will learn:

– Become more confident in drawing (moving) figures in their environment.

– Understand how to disassemble figures into parts

– Become comfortable combining parts from disparate figures to tell a story

– Have a roadmap for future self directed exploration

We will be working right in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission district!

This is a rare opportunity for immersion in in-depth but light-hearted instruction that will expose you to new ideas, attitudes and skills to take your sketching to the next level.

This workshop offers a step-by step curriculum with an extensive handout and is suitable for everyone—beginner to professional. Plenty of individual feedback will be provided. At the end everyone will have sketched people and should feel confident in continuing their journey.
