Nina´s workshop, City Perspectives, will take on ways to deal with all the overwhelming visual input that a city can challenge a sketcher with. Nina will show us her way to work step by step, from the large perspectives to the details that make up the stories of a city. We will work on finding an effective way to build perspective and bigger shapes as a basic structure of a sketch, then working out a focus area and figure out how to emphasize it. We will also look at how light behaves in a city, and get a basic understanding of colour theory and how to apply it on an urban colour scale. Pencils, pens and watercolours will be our main tools, along with other drawing gear that participants prefer.
The workshop will stretch over two days with, all in all, 4 three-hour sessions, and will take place in central Oslo, (near Sentralen), as the Opera, Bjørvika and around the Munch museum.
Urban Sketchers Oslo invite sketchers from all walks of life to a regional sketching weekend May 7-8 2022. We offer free demos and sketchwalks open for all, outdoor night sketching at the Opera, and a workshop with Swedish sketcher and illustrator Nina Johansson (20 registered participants). We will gather for dinner at VIPPA and go for a drink&draw at SALT.
