5-Decade-Old Wet Market

The Lucky Garden wet market in my neighbourhood of Bangsar is at least 50 years old. According to some of the residents who have lived here since the early 1970s, the market started in 1973 around the time the shop-lots were built. The market was not originally in its current location back then. It was an informal gathering of little trucks selling vegetables, fish and fruit. 14 years ago I made Bangsar my home. Since then, I’ve been going to this market for vegetables, fresh seafood and my favourite ‘Chee Cheong Fun’ (rice noodle rolls).
