Meet the Symposium International Correspondent Jeroen Janssen

Meet the 2024 Symposium International Correspondent Jeroen Janssen from Belgium, who will document the daily happenings at this year’s event in Buenos Aires.

Jeroen is a graphic journalist and his core interest is sketching ordinary life of people and everyday stories – for many years has contributed to the organization as a USk blog correspondent.

The work of a sketching correspondent is very demanding – as the daily activities of the Symposium draw to a close, sketching correspondents have to rush to their computers to scan their drawings and write a summary of the day whilst others relax and reflect on their experiences.

Jeroen explains his passion for graphic journalism ” I like combining landscapes and people, and when needed I sketch faster than a photographer. I am very eager to know the personal story of every person I meet, and I’d rather listen to what people want to tell to me instead of asking them questions.”

Jeroen has considerable experience in visual reportage & publishing, including several books and magazines.   You can see more about his work on his website https://www.bakame.be
