Toulouse 2026 : Gael’s view (Day 3)

Hey everybody, what’s up ? Envoying the pink city ? Me I’m exhausted. Today I went to five different workshops.

I started the day with the lecture of Nata, Anne and Nadine. They do collective drawings on giant rolls.

Then I went to my first workshop of the day, with Kek Hoon Pin. I loved this workshop so much I did not want to leave. Hoon’s drawings are so dynamic and full of energy, it resonated a lot lot with my work.

10:29 Hoon’s workshop (my favorite one so far)

Next I went to see Katie Woodward working on lights and shadow with complementary colors. And I finished my morning session with Donald O Colley. As you might have notice, I try to adapt my drawings to the workshop rules. I borrow material to the instructor when I can and use the same technique as they do. Donald’s technique with grey markers was really interesting but out of my comfort zone. I like how he starts with quick sketches and ends up with super realistic portraits.

On the afternoon, I went to Owen Labbé’s workshop. Owen is super kind and he’s a good pedagogue. Finally, I ended up in Veronica Lawlor’s workshop about sketched report approaches. For this one I followed the three exercises of the workshop to have something a bit different. We talked a bit at the end, it was great.

Then I went to Port Viguerie for the Drink and Draw but there were too many people. So I joined a group of volunteer friends and we went to a bar. I didn’t have the strength to do one last drawing.

That’s all for today, see you all tomorrow,

Bye,

Gael
