M and 34

I didn’t notice right away, but a little 5 year old girl was standing directly behind me watching me draw for a few minutes while her father waited for the crossing signal to change. Eventually I saw her and said hello, but when her father told her it was time to cross the road she apparently wanted to stay, crying “Why! why!”

After that I started to notice how 95% of the adults walking by me gave me little more than a glance, while 95% of the kids wanted to see what I was up to.
