Wednesday in Yeniköy

To see this larger, please visit my blog Harika and click on the image.

When I went back to the Yeniköy Spor Kulübü to sketch, this elegant lady was in her usual spot, frowning over the news in her fur coat and coral necklace. The kind elderly gentleman who I believe is the owner, presented me with a sheet of paper from the copier, and motioned to me to draw her for him. After I finished the sketch, he picked up the paper and excitedly ran of to give the drawing to the lady, who stunned and confused looked it over asking “Bu kim yaptı?”— who did this? A smile grew over her face and she thanked me for the drawing, declaring it was “çok güzel”— very nice. It made my day.

On another note, Turkish blogger Aslı Ayşen Aydın mentioned us in her wonderful blog Trendiary. I had the pleasure of meeting Aslı the other week over a cup of coffee and she was fascinated with the Urban Sketchers idea.
