The Marble Temple in Bangkok

Wat Benjamabopit is a well loved temple renowned for its perfect architectural proportion. It is in fact quite small in size when compared with other important temples in Bangkok. Just as important though, the temple is also home to one of the most revered buddha.

I was there one late afternoon and really appreciate the quiet environment with unusually few tourists around. I did some sketches of simple line work and thought perhaps I could share with all here. The roof lines, rather typical of most Thai temples.

Wat Benjamabopit: The Roof line

The temple is also known as The Marble Temple for its external cladding matetial in imported marble from Italy!

Wat Benjamabopit: The Main Hall

Further away was a small water way with a cast iron bridge seperating the temple proper and the monks residence area.

Wat Benjamabopit: The Bridge

I hope the sketches give you some feel of a Thai temple in Thailand where I live.
