Indonesia’s sketchers on Sunday’s Media Indonesia

On 29 December 2009,  Indonesia’s Sketchers (IS) community, which was founded in August 2009,  had a sketching agenda at Menteng Park, Jakarta. Media Indonesia daily newspaper reported the program on its cultural report on its Sunday edition of 3 January 2010. The reportage, which comprised two writings, focused on the general definition of the art of sketching, as seen from its history and progress in Indonesia as well as in the world.   

It is sad that the development of the art of sketching in Indonesia is not that pleasing. Even it is almost forgotten, both by the practitioners and academicians. It is in opposite of the development of the art of sketching around the wold, which has got such important place and is honorable like another arts.

Hopefully the art of sketching in Indonesia will gain more success, both in its development and appreciation from the public, especially in profit matter. Of course it is the duty of all of us, especially the IS members around the areas of Indonesia. They need to be more active in the socialization of art of sketching and take a part in the progress of the community by contributing their fresh ideas.
