Sketching around the old town of Jakarta

At the end of March 2010, some friends from Indonesia’s Sketchers Community and I made some sketches together around the Fatahillah Museum, Jakarta. The activity was a part of picture-taking program for a local TV station’s program.
Here are some of the sketches that I made during the occasion and on the way home.

The activities of visitors and sellers at Fatahillah Museum’s yard. A member of IS was ‘recording’ the surrounding.

Dasaad Musin Concert Hall
An almost extinct building, just counting the days. Last year, it’s full of parasites, that it looked miserable. Now the parasites are almost clear, but the impact is so great!
During the 1950’s, the building was a car showroom of a distributor of General Motor
(Cadillac, Chevrolet, Pontiac, etc.). It belonged to a native, Mr. Dasaad, who was a close friend of Bung Karno (The first president of Indonesian Republic).

In front of a Padangese stall next to Fatahillah Museum
The rain fell hard enough after we had finished our lunch at a food stall beside Fatahillah Museum. As the stall could not accommodate the five of us, we moved to a wider spot, i.e., in front of a Padangese stall. While waiting for the rain to stop, we made some sketches on anything we saw there…..
