Dominican Tea Time

Last month, after a very long draught, our country was blessed with nice, heavy, cool rain. For those of you who don’t know, in my country as soon as the temperature drops a few degrees we call it “friito”, or the “little”cold. And as soon as “el friito” hits, we rush to dust off our sweaters and shawls. We sock our feet and all over the city the comment, “Que friito esta haciendo!” can be heard.

Since you never know when the next “friito” will hit, you have to jump at the opportunity to enjoy what otherwise would be tortuous- hot beverages. My friends brewed a pot of jazmine tea, which warms the body and sweetens the soul. Salud!
