Comic Book Style

Victoria – Yen Wo Society building, originally uploaded by mc_bds.

I like using the vertical format in a sketchbook.
A tall thin building makes the perfect subject, this is the Yen Wo Society building. It’s kind of run down now but I really like it, it’s got character to burn, unlike most contemporary buildings.
Of course a drawing “style” is as unique as a handwriting style, and it changes over time. I was thinking that some of my sketches are moving towards a kind of comic book style – and I like it. I was never into comic books, but have dropped into a few comic book stores lately and was absolutely blown away by some of the talent on display. So a comic book style is fine by me.
