Amsterdam, social housing

Amsterdam, SpaarndammerbuurtThis is how social housing could look like. It was built this way back in 1917, in the Spaarndammerbuurt. in Amsterdam. Architect was Michel de Klerk, who strongly believed that architecture and docorative arts could elevate the level and livingconditions of the workers. The complex contained a school, kindergarten, postoffice and a lot of apartments (still inhabited). One apartment and the postoffice were restored in its original state, as a museum “het schip”. Worth a visit.
