Prince at Madison Square Garden

Yesterday afternoon I got a text from Kati Nawrocki, fellow Studio 1482-er and friend, inviting me to join her at the PRINCE concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Oh man, my old crush from high school and a fantastic performer! What a great show, I most definitely was dancing in the aisles and did a few drawings as well. Prince did not disappoint, he was pure eighties glam and funk. A couple of portraits:

Love the eyeliner and fab 80’s outfits – the look is part matador, part pirate – yeah, baby. I had a big crush on Prince in high school and it kicked back into full gear at the show. I didn’t expect to go which I think was part of the fun; I remember telling Kati I was envious that she was going to see him and next thing I knew I was there too. (Kati does a blog called musikati where she draws, photographs and reviews concerts all around the New York City area, so she was on the case and able to get these tickets – check out her blog some time.) : )

The last encore of the evening was an eighties dance party on stage complete with a cameo by Cindy Lauper – true bliss! Here he is below, in all his purple rain of confetti glory:
