Reading Isabel Fiadeiro’s post about the concentrations held in the main squares of all major cities in Spain prior to the elections that took place on Sunday, I noticed I had not uploaded to Urban Sketchers the post I wrote to USk Spain regional blog in spanish.
The fact is that, according to surveys, politicians are the thrid most important problem in spanish citizens’ minds… this widespread unrest materialized spontaneously in these peaceful demonstrations where the young and the elder people met side by side just to protest against the political stablishment which is, in people’s opinion, to blame for their detachment from people’s everyday problems, the poor management of the crisis and the severe unemployment; and to ask for an ethical revolution.
I drew this sketch in the main square of Málaga on Thursday, when the crowd was getting bigger; but it was on Saturday when the largest amount was recorded…
I felt uneasy to see the police cars pointing at the demonstrators that were no harm for anyone and did not even ask for the vote on any party in particular.
Here is the manifesto of the 15M movement that you can also find on Isabel’s post. (It stands for 15th may, when it all started)
